Meet Emily Smith Ed.S CCC-SLP

A graduate of Missouri State University, Emily is a proud South Florida transplant invested in improving the lives of children and young adults in the local community. Emily is a pediatric speech-language pathologist certified in clinical competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She has an additional Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University and prides herself in developing practical approaches to improving the communication skills of those she serves. Since 2012, Emily has had a variety of diverse experiences in the field of speech-language pathology from working in rural Alaska and commuting school-to-school by bush plane to founding two telehealth startups that have helped over 2 million children receive the high quality education and therapy they deserve. Emily has served on the Board of Directors for World Refugee School in Amman, Jordan, and most recently worked as the speech-language pathologist at Bayview Elementary in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Personalized, online speech and language therapy is available for children of all ages, tailored to meet each child’s unique communication needs. Services include:

Language Therapy – For children with challenges in understanding (receptive language) or expressing themselves (expressive language).
Fluency Therapy – Strategies and tools for children who stutter, aimed at improving speech flow and building self-confidence.
Social Communication Skills – Focused support for developing conversation skills, understanding social cues, and building relationships—especially beneficial for children with autism or social communication difficulties.
Early Language Development – Play-based therapy designed for toddlers and preschoolers who are late talkers or experiencing developmental delays.
Literacy and Pre-Literacy Support – Strengthening foundational skills such as phonological awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension to support early reading success.

All sessions are delivered virtually by a licensed speech-language pathologist through engaging, interactive activities—making it easy for children to learn and grow, whether they’re at home or on the go.

Where are services delivered?

All services are delivered online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, making it easy for children to receive high-quality speech therapy from the comfort of home—or anywhere with a reliable internet connection. Whether you're at home, visiting family, or traveling, therapy sessions are just a click away. This flexible model allows for consistent, convenient care without the need to commute or disrupt your family’s routine. Therapy is available to Florida-based families.

How does teletherapy work for kids?

Teletherapy works just like in-person speech therapy—but it happens online through a secure video platform. Kids meet with a licensed speech-language pathologist in real time, using a computer, tablet, or other device with internet access. Sessions are fun, interactive, and tailored to each child’s goals, using digital games, visuals, stories, and hands-on activities to keep them engaged.

Younger children may need a parent or caregiver nearby to help with setup or join in the session, especially at first. As kids get more comfortable, they often become independent and look forward to their virtual “speech time.” Whether your child is working on sounds, language, fluency, or social skills, teletherapy makes it possible to build strong communication skills from wherever you are.

Do you provide evaluations in addition to therapy?

Yes, comprehensive speech and language evaluations are available in addition to ongoing therapy services. If you're unsure whether your child needs an evaluation, feel free to reach out—I'd be happy to discuss your child's needs and help determine the best next steps.

If you already have a current evaluation (completed within the past year) from your child’s school, another agency, or a licensed speech-language pathologist, a new evaluation may not be necessary unless updated information is needed to guide therapy.

Is insurance accepted?

Services are offered on a private pay basis, and insurance is not billed directly. However, many families are able to use their out-of-network benefits to receive partial reimbursement. A superbill (detailed receipt with billing codes) can be provided upon request, which you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. It’s always a good idea to check with your insurance company in advance to understand your out-of-network coverage for speech therapy services. Payment is due at the time of service.

What is the cost?

Each 45-minute session is priced at $120. For added savings, if you purchase 10 sessions at a time, the cost drops to $100 per session. Evaluations begin at $350 for a speech-only evaluation. If you're also looking to have your child’s language or fluency skills evaluated, please reach out to discuss the specific assessments needed. A personalized quote will be provided based on the required evaluations.

Where are you licensed?

Currently, I am licensed to provide speech-language pathology services to clients in Florida. If your family is based in Florida but you are traveling, I can continue to serve your child. If you are located in a different state or outside of the United States and interested in services, please reach out as additional licensure may be obtained.
